Hogg, Shain & Scheck welcomes new employees in 2016!

We’re pleased to announce that our team is growing. We’d like to welcome our new hires Philip Varmuza, Taylor Davis and Alex Briganti to the Hogg, Shain & Scheck team!

We’d like to welcome Taylor Davis to Hogg, Shain & Scheck as of March 16, 2016.

Taylor Davis recently graduated from Wilfred Laurier University in Economics and Accounting (Bachelor of Arts, Double Major). Taylor did a work term with BDO for four months while attending school. He also volunteered for the student alumni association and promises to deliver the best to our clients.

Phil Varmuza, CPA, CA, BComm (Hnrs) Phil received his CA designation in 2012 after articling for a national firm. After qualifying for CA designation, he specialized in tax services for owner-managed large private companies, as and high net worth individuals. Phil is specializing in these areas as they allow him to grow to help clients in taxes and be a trusted advisor.  During this time, he undertook the 3 levels of In-Depth tax and obtained his certificate of completion in 2015. He will write his third level in the Chartered Financial Analyst program this June.  Phil’s interests include exercising, reading and politics, as well as being as avid basketball fan. When in doubt, you can find Phil down at Jurassic Park cheering on his beloved Raptors.

Alex Briganti, CPA CA, graduated from York University in 2006 receiving a Bachelors of Administrative Studies with Specialized Honours in Accounting.  Alex articled for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Toronto and received his Chartered Accountant designation (now CPA) in 2010. There he specialized in IFRS audit and assurance engagements, within the financial services group.  Alex then gained additional experience with a local public accounting firm over the past four years as a Manager with senior experience, where he specialized in quality assurance consulting and assurance engagements. Alex supported a group of external public accountants in adhering and exceeding the quality control standards of his profession. Outside of the office, Alex’s other interests include soccer and volunteering for not-for-profit organizations.
