Hogg, Shain & Scheck Celebrate Nomination for the Business Excellence Awards

Hogg, Shain & Scheck (HSS) was honoured to be nominated for the Local Economic Impact Award during the 2014 Business Excellence Awards. The Excellence Awards are hosted by the Toronto Region Board of Trade and recognizes the valuable contributions of small and medium businesses and emerging entrepreneurs in the Toronto region business community. Of the eight awards bestowed, the Local Economic Impact Award recognizes a business that has had a significant impact on the Toronto Region’s economy.

Although HSS did not win the award, HSS is proud to be acknowledged for its continued efforts to educate and train their workforce, and its active involvement in community economic development activities. The competition was tough with a number of great Toronto companies sharing the nomination with HSS.

As part of HSS’ community impact, the accounting firm offers several scholarships for Ted Rogers School of Management students at Ryerson University, including one for financial aid. The firm primarily works with budding entrepreneurs and not-for-profit organizations through its services in accounting, audits, and consulting.

“Giving back to the community has always been important to us here at HSS,” says Ed Scheck, partner of HSS and former chair of the Toronto Board of Trade (now Toronto Region Board of Trade), “Education is one of our core values.”

HSS’ staff pride themselves in devoting time to understand their clients’ needs and ambitions, in order to help them make the best decisions for their businesses. The HSS staff were very humbled by the nomination and experienced a boost in morale.

“The Business Excellence Awards was an amazing experience!” says Esra Shafique, an accountant at HSS. “It was great to see the firm receive such recognition in front of some of the best in the business.”

The ceremony was held at Toronto Don Valley Hotel, and there was no shortage of inspirational business and community minded leaders in attendance that evening.

HSS is grateful for the Local Economic Impact Award recognition, and would like to congratulate all of the night’s winners for achieving excellence in business!
