Student Recruitment and Training
As part of our ongoing commitment to education, Hogg, Shain & Scheck has partnered with Ryerson University to establish a student recruitment and training program. We hire and prepare Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) students from a variety of schools and transition them onto the team.
We also provide our student team members with support through company-paid leaves for professional examinations and time off for orientation. Additionally, we partially help cover educational costs by reimbursing the fees of approved preparation courses for their CPA exams. We celebrate their achievements and are proud to see our staff sucesssfully reaching their goals.
Scholarships & Awards
Hogg, Shain and Scheck has partnered with the Ted Rogers School of Business and Management at Ryerson University to celebrate entrepreneurial spirit through student scholarships and awards. We are proud to provide the Hogg, Shain and Scheck Professional Corporation Award to four full-time undergraduate students with an Accounting major that have completed the third year of the program. Award eligibility is based on academic excellence and through demonstrated leadership qualities, two characteristics that we truly value at our firm. HSS also supports Ryerson’s Make Your Mark campaign, which recently reached its goal of $200,000 to contribute to capital projects, teaching, research, academic programs, awards, bursaries and scholarships for Ryerson students.
Ted Rogers Management Conference
In 2015, we were honoured to sponsor and speak at the Ted Rogers Management Conference. Ryerson University students ran the three-day business convention, which focused on entrepreneurship, leadership and business management skills. A variety of sectors were represented including influential start-ups, businesses, venture capitalists, legal corporations and companies such as Hogg, Shain & Scheck.
Business Career Hub at Ted Rogers School of Management
We are proud to sponsor the Ted Rogers School of Business Management – Business Career Hub at Ryerson University. As a strategic partner our role is to support the faculty, alumni and students, to providing guidance and one-on-one career coaching.
Our team regularly attends career-building events, fireside chats and student gatherings on behalf of Hogg, Shain & Scheck. The firm also helps fund new technologies and advancements at the centre. The Business Career Hub aims to help transition students into rewarding careers while preparing them to meet the hiring needs of businesses. Sponsoring the Business Career Hub at Ryerson University is one of the many ways that we demonstrate our commitment to continued education.
Business Advisory & Alumni Committee
Aside from our financial contributions, we dedicate our time to supporting lifelong learning. We continue to be involved in the business advisory program at the Ted Rogers School of Business and Management at Ryerson University. Our partner Ed Scheck is also a proud graduate and advisor on the Ryerson alumni committee. Ed dedicates his time to mentoring graduates as often as possible and he enjoys attending alumni events held by the school.
